Surf trips have a pattern: three or four big days, then a day when your arms refuse to paddle. Luckily there are plenty of things to do in Tamraght that do not need a board. Here are twelve ideas, from easy recovery to proper excursions.
Recovery days
1. Go to a traditional hammam
A Moroccan hammam involves steam, black soap (savon beldi) and a scrub with a rough glove called a kessa. It is deeply relaxing for sore muscles and cleans the salt out of your skin. Local hammams are cheaper and more authentic than spa versions, but ask your host which one is appropriate and what to wear.
2. Do a yoga or stretching class
A gentle session loosens your shoulders and lower back. Many surf houses and studios in the area offer yoga, and it is a good way to get through a rest day without losing your rhythm.
3. Get a massage
Argan-oil massage is widely offered in the area. Check reviews and agree on the price first.

4. Walk the cliffs at sunset
The coastline above the village gives you wide ocean views and a front-row seat for the evening light. It is free, and many guests say it is the best moment of the day. Bring a light jacket because it cools down quickly.
5. Watch the surf from the headland
Studying a wave from above teaches you more than any video. Look at where it starts to break, how the channel works and where the better surfers sit. It will help your next session at Devil’s Rock or Banana Beach.
6. Slow down with the locals
Sit in a local cafe, order mint tea and watch village life for an hour. For food ideas, see what to eat in Tamraght.
7. Hike or cycle in the hills
The hills behind the coast have argan trees, goats and viewpoints. Go early, bring water and ask your host about a safe route.
Agadir day trips
8. Visit Agadir Kasbah (Oufella)
The hilltop ruins offer one of the best panoramic views over the bay and the city. Go in the late afternoon.
9. Explore Souk El Had
One of the biggest markets in Morocco, with spices, argan products, clothes and food. Go with an open mind, a little cash and a polite attitude to bargaining.
10. Take the family to Crocoparc
A popular attraction near Agadir with crocodiles in a landscaped garden. It is a good option if you travel with kids or want a mellow afternoon.

11. Paradise Valley
Natural pools, palm trees and gorges in the Atlas foothills. It is the classic cool-down from the coast. We cover it in full in our Paradise Valley day trip guide.
12. Imsouane or Essaouira
If you have a car or driver.
